WHY DID/WOULD YOU HESITATE TO WORK WITH AOS?
I was unaware of Accelerated Orthopedic Services, but once I was referred to them and researched their specialized services, I had no hesitation in working with Kathleen and Accelerated Orthopedic Services.
WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO OBTAIN SERVICES/PRODUCTS WITH AOS?
I am a Type 1 diabetic with neuropathy in my legs. I fractured my ankle and was given an Air cast and instructed not to remove it. Within a few days I had developed three, bad foot ulcers. It was actually the casting technician I encountered building a back slab cast for my broken ankle who first suggested I contact Accelerated Orthopedic Services, particularly due to the blackening foot ulcers on my foot and heel. He advised that the cast he was applying was OK for the broken ankle but would do little or nothing for the foot ulcers.
Consulting with the orthopedic doctor dealing with the broken ankle, he agreed that Accelerated Orthopedic Services, in particular Kathleen, was my best option to address the foot ulcers. He went on to comment that in my case I really was looking at two options: 1) Accelerated Orthopedic Services and Kathleen or 2) face the likelihood that I would be facing amputation of the foot. The option was obvious and simple, so I called Kathleen that very day. Unbelievably, Kathleen was at my hospital bed within a couple of hours and my wife and I indicated to Kathleen that, regardless of the cost, we wanted Accelerated Orthopedic Services to undertake the necessary work to heal the foot ulcers. My first Total Contact Cast, provision of a knee scooter to keep me from weightbearing, and the initial foot ulcer treatment began that very day.
WHAT WERE THE BENEFITS TO WORKING WITH AOS?
The primary benefit of Accelerated Orthopedic Services has been that Kathleen has seemingly “pulled off a miracle” and all three of my foot ulcers have healed or are in the process of healing. Depending on which ulcer, it has taken either weeks or months to heal the wounds. This is understandable and expected at 74 years of age, with multiple health conditions, everything takes so long to heal.
I also had been prescribed compression stockings, that despite help from my wife and different aids to help put them on, they were too difficult to use. Kathleen showed us the Circaid compression stocking (wrap system), that was so much easier to put on and has allowed me to wear them daily, keeping the swelling down, preventing further ulcers from happening.
Kathleen is super helpful when dealing with insurance companies, making it easier for them to underwrite some or all of the cost. Added to the success of Kathleen's treatments, her warmth and charm are infused throughout Accelerated Orthopedic Services, making each and every visit a warm blessing.
WHO, SPECIFICALLY, WOULD YOU RECOMMEND AOS TO?
I would be recommending Accelerated Orthopedic Services and Kathleen to every man, woman and child with a foot ulcer, damaged foot or extremity. Anyone with any sort of injured foot or wound and who is not allowed to weight bear should contact Accelerated Orthopedics Services ASAP.
Accelerated Orthopedics would be my first thought with every patient facing a new or chronic foot ulcer on the bottom of their foot as a result of an injury, diabetes, or some hospital or clinic treatment. As was my case, the likelihood of further deterioration of the blackened wound and the ultimate decision to remove some or all of the wounded area OR the foot itself made the option of a Total Contact Cast through Accelerated Orthopedic Services clearly the best choice. Again, cost for private specialized care may be a barrier, BUT loss of the foot is still the worst and most costly option, both to pocket and more importantly, to life. Kathleen is thorough, quick and caring, making her treatments a joy, and the results of her efforts are worth every penny of the cost.
